The dumbest idea I've had yet...

Alright folks...here it is.

I am going to be a bridesmaid in a friends wedding at the end of the month. There is a get together for some of the girls tomorrow (in Spartanburg...where the wedding is). So, I got the bright idea that I would come to my parents house a week early....with Sophia....by myself. A 7-8 hour drive....depending on traffic. I left at 8 this morning (Pensacola time) and got to my parents about 11 hours later!!

Oh my gosh....what a crazy day! I stopped several times to feed her, change her, calm her! Plus we got stuck in Atlanta rush hour traffic for 3 hours. (HELL). Sophia really wasn't that bad, even in the traffic. It started after we finally got out of it. About 2 1/2 hours from my parents..perhaps a little less. She was exhausted and sooooooo not happy about being in the car any longer. I don't blame her. It was kind of funny though. Everytime we stopped and got out of the car, she was as happy as a clam....(can clams really be happy?).

So, we are here...we surprised Grandma and Great Grandma (Grandpa was in on the surprise). Sophie is sleeping soundly (for the moment) in the pack and play in the spare room.

*SIGH*

Thank goodness this day is over!!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...or not.

Today is December 9th, and it's 80 degrees outside!! I'm so glad we are going somewhere cold for the holidays. It just doesn't feel like Christmas when it's so warm outside. Maybe there will even be snow when we visit PA!!

Another milestone has been accomplished!

Today I put Sophie down on her playmat (on her back) and went in the other room to do something. I came back, and she was on her stomach. I had to think for a minute..."did I put her on her stomach or her back...?" Sure enough...she rolled from her back to her stomach. They say that's harder to do than from stomach to back. YAY for my little loaf! Pretty soon she'll be rolling all over the place like her BFF Grace!! She has her 4 month well baby check-up on the 6th. That means more shots....eeeek! At least the "funk" only lasts a few days.

I'm so excited for this Christmas!! Not only because it will be Sophia's 1st, but we will see both of our extended families!! And finally my husband will meet my brother and his niece for the first time. Last but not least.....a dear friend of mine is getting married (I'm in the wedding...another reason for our trip back to SC) and I'm soooooo happy for her!

I think we are going to get our tree tomorrow. I know I know......"why get a tree when you aren't going to be there for Christmas?" It just wouldn't be Christmas without a tree in our house....especially since Sophia is here now. I'll post pictures soon.

Giggles

Sophia laughed! She of course only gave me one little giggle. I had her standing up on my lap, and then I let her start falling backwards. Of course I didn't let her go far before I caught her. I kept trying to get her to laugh again, but no such luck. She's my big girl! I constantly hope she knows how much I love her, and I can never give her too many kisses.

I'm baaaaack.

It's been a few days. I know.....I know. Those who know me are thinking....here she goes. It's true, often I don't finish what I've started. It's a curse! But you don't always have things to write about. I take that back, there's always plenty to write about. You can't write about everything that goes on in your life though, right? Anyway--

Thanksgiving is coming quickly. That means my parents are going to be here soon. Eeeeeek! The house is a total disaster area. I swept and mopped today at least. I still need to vacuum, clean the bathrooms, get the guest room ready, and clean up our room. To be honest...I might just keep the door closed the whole time. Is that a terrible thing to do? We will be going over to have turkey day with friends of ours and there family. It's gonna be crazy, but a great time.

Chris and have been talking about how we can really make our marriage the best it can be. It's so easy to let your relationship go to the wayside when you've been married for a while. Add in the busy schedule of a flight student and a baby!! So we have decided to make sure we are spending quality time together, working together to get things done (the dishes...ick), and just making sure we are keeping things good. You forget that you have to work at making a relationship good.

Sophie is good. She is on the verge of rolling from her back to her stomach. Any day now. She pulls her legs up to her stomach and rolls to her side. She has even gotten almost all the way over a few times. She's getting sooooo BIG!! All her smiles....I love it!

Who does my baby belong to?

I'm sure that title seems odd to many people. It's a true statement though (kind of). She really is our child, but we aren't sure which one of us she looks like. She 3 months old now and we are still trying to figure out where she gets her different features from. So far we think she has Chris' eyes, my fat cheeks (insert some silly comment here), her red hair is from her Grams and Nana (Chris family). Other than that we don't know...even those few features we aren't sure of. At least she's cute, I guess that's all that matters for now.

I'm supposed to start working out with a friend of mine. She's coming up with a great work out plan (which I'm sure if I did it every day I'd lose all this stupid baby weight in no time), but I'm not sure if I have the athletic drive to follow through with it. I'm such a lazy bum! I really want to get back down to my pre-pregnancy weight...between a 4 and an 8. As of right now I'm a 12, which really isn't a huge size....it's quite average. But when you have a closet full of smaller sizes it makes you want to cry. Wish me luck.

Last night Chris and I were invited to dinner by his forms partner. Her parents were in from Hawaii for a weekend visit. So we all went out to dinner, including her boyfriend. We left Sophia with our friends down the street for the evening. Dinner was great! Wonderful food and wine, great company, and I could actually eat my food as soon as they brought it out...no holding a baby during the meal. I think every couple with children should do that at least once a month!

Last but not least- I'm trying to get Sophie to learn how to hold the bottle by herself. She kind of does it sometimes, and other times she just doesn't. She will get there eventually I'm sure. Anyway..that's about it for now.

The Blue Angels Homecoming

We went to the Blue Angels Homecoming air show today. It was fun as most air shows are. We met up with the Fitzgeralds and just enjoyed the day. There weren't as many people there as last year......even though the parking was a little crazy. I was paranoid the whole time about Sophie's ears and the loud noise. I just covered them every time there was jet noise. She was really good though...she didn't even cry once. Here are a few pictures from the day. Enjoy!

"Lose yourself"

Today was another one of "those" days. Sophia didn't sleep for more than 45 minutes at a time again. On top of that, whenever I was out of her sight she would cry. So trying to do laundry and dishes was not so easy. I have been feeling as if I'm in a rut. I just feel drab and homely as of late. When you have a baby you "lose yourself". You lose your body, you lose sleep, you lose your time, you lose your mind!! Even though it's the most amazing thing in the world....it's hard at times. I'm not sure how you get through these feelings. Unless....you get a complete and total makeover and date your husband more often.
Then & Now

Tomorrow we go to the Blue Angels Homecoming show. It will be Sophie's 1st air show (outside the womb). It's always a really good show, so we are excited. We were going to go to the night show tonight. Circumstances did not allow that. Chris didn't get home from his flight today until after 4. The show started at 4:30 and the drive alone takes perhaps 30 minutes. Not worth it. I got a call from a friend of mine from the playgroup Sophie and I go to. She was having another couple (another one of the mothers from the playgroup) over for dinner and games, and she invited us as well. It was a lot of fun. It's always fun to play games, eat pizza, throw a few back... and try to entertain babies all at the same time!

Well I just fed Sophia and put her down for the night. Hopefully us getting off our regular schedule won't totally mess her up tonight! Anyway....

"The 45 minute intruder"

So....my little loaf of Sophia is usually a pretty good sleeper. She started sleeping through the night at 6 weeks, and usually takes at least an hour nap 4 times a day. Well, today she would only sleep for perhaps 30-45 minutes at a time. It was HORRIBLE!! I could barely get anything done today. Sigh. I'm not sure if it's a growth spurt, teething or maybe she's just changing her sleep habits. Heaven help me if she stops sleeping through the night. Eeeeek! I feel exhausted for some reason. I'm not sure why since I sleep at night (for the most part).

Sophia is changing every day. She's "talking" a lot more these days. And when I say "talking" I mean gurggle and cooing. It's so cute I can hardly contain my giggles. She's reaching for toys and starting to put everything in her mouth. She's also discovered her little hands, and she munches on them constantly. She can roll from her stomach to her back. She's even starting to bring her legs/feet up to her tummy and rock them to the side....so hopefully that means she will be rolling from her back to her tummy soon too!
